“Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”

Sometimes the words of others speak to me and I thought this was beautiful…

Writer and poet William Cowper (1732-1800) discovered comfort in God’s providence, and protective custody when backward-looking on the difficult times in his life, which led him to write the following poem

Shining out of Darkness

God moves in mysterious way,

His wonders to perform;

He plants his footsteps in the sea

And rides upon the storm.

Deep in unfathomable mines

Of never failing skill,

He treasures up his bright designs,

And works his sovereign will.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,

But trust him for his grace;

Behind a frowning providence,

He hides a smiling face.

I know I should not weigh-in on politics, but the hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle is astounding.

I vividly remember the hate-filled vitriol that was hurled at George Bush by the left with no regard for the Office of President or the person. And now the same bitter attacks are aimed at Barak Obama (again, with no regard for the Office of President or the person) by the right.

The unwillingness from both sides to tap down the vocal violence concerns me greatly. What is the future of civility?

If you’re going to allow or encourage your followers to demean someone because you’re in power and you can, don’t cry foul when the other side hits back twice as hard.

I understand the game – but I don’t like it. When the fabric of our society is so shredded that the threads can no longer hold, we’ll then realize we’ve accomplished nothing but the destruction of what was built to last a lifetime.

Don’t Major on the Minor – otherwise you will wind up with a below average life…As I travel and speak to all types of groups, I see that many people have come to a stop in their life (at any age) because they are worried. They’re worried about life, death, kids, parents, money, health, wrinkles… worried about things that happen and things that don’t.

STOP – Stop worrying about everything. Do not worry about making mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes and it is not the end of the world. Too many people won’t take simple steps to do something (big or small) because they live in fear. They accomplish nothing because they are worried and stopped by fear.

I have a friend who wears an over-sized button every day that says, “Life is not a dress rehearsal.” Friends, if you continue to live little, tiny, forgettable lives you have given your best life away.
I love this quote: “We have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour. Now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour.” Friends now is the time, this is the place and starting today you need to commit to living your best life ever. You can do so much more than what you think you can-so much more than you currently are. And this is not work-wise (you do plenty of that) but this is life-wise.

There is so much more to you than what you realize. You have many more capabilities than what you are now utilizing. But you have got to turn off the small voice in your head that says, “You can’t…” and hear the voice that says, “You Can…” Start viewing the world from the rightful place you have been given. Don’t Major on the Minor – life is too short to waste in fear.
